Juan Carlos Aizpurua
Chairman
He joined the family business in 1996 as CEO until 2020, and has been Chairman since 2012.
He has been proactive in expanding and consolidating the companies making up the family group. His entrepreneurial vision and eagerness to continue to generate value have been the drivers of the Mugarri creation process.
He was formerly CEO of Star Bonifacio Echeverría. He began his professional career as chief financial officer at a number of cooperatives in the Mondragón group.
He has a degree in economics and business management from the University of Deusto.
Asier Unda
Managing Director
He has extensive experience in Private Equity, business management and finance markets.
He formerly worked at Talde Private Equity, heading up processes involving corporate operations and the management of subsidiaries. He has sat on a number of boards and is a former partner of Uplift, a Corporate Finance/M&A boutique, and also acted as investor in operations.
He had previously worked in the Corporate Finance division with Elkargi, Deloitte and EY, working on M&As, corporate appraisals, business modelling, debt restructuring and assistance in due diligence processes. He began his career as an auditor with PwC.
He holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from Universidad Comercial de Deusto, an MBA from the same University, and a Master’s Degree in Corporate Finance and Investment Banking from the IEB Institute.
Alex Aizpurua
Managing Director / CEO of the Family Group
He has extensive experience in operational management and business administration.
He joined the family group in 2010 as an engineer to implement and carry through a production plant. He subsequently headed up the group’s sales and purchases department. In 2020 he took up his current post as CEO. He has been proactive in the group’s corporate restructuring and the creation of Mugarri.
He began his professional career as a Sales Engineer in the Middle East at AMPO S.Coop, where he acquired solid competence in the international environment.
He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from TECNUN (University of Navarra) and an Executive Postgraduate Degree in Financial Management from Deusto Business School.

Itxaso Segurola
ANALYST
Before joining Mugarri, the dual training modality brought her into the working world and helped her onboard analytical and management skills in the logistics sector.
She holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Mondragón.

She joined the family group in 2020 as Financial Controller, where she has been in charge of operational management and financial reporting, in addition to people management. In 2024 she took up her post as CFO.
She previously worked on her international career at multinationals such as Baxter Healthcare Ltd. and Cook Medical in Ireland, overseeing complex projects, working closely with global teams and driving the optimisation of management processes.
She began her professional career in Caja Rural de Navarra as a financial manager.
She holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Deusto, and also a Master’s degree in Marketing.

He holds a higher degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Navarra.
